Temporary Worker – Creative Worker Sponsor License

The Creative Worker route allows entertainers, artists, models, and their entourage to work temporarily in the UK, where they are expected to make a unique contribution to the cultural sector. To sponsor a Creative Worker, your company must hold a valid Sponsor License, follow industry codes, and ensure eligibility.

About this service

This temporary visa route expects a unique contribution; meaning the applicant must be internationally recognised or is required for a project’s continuity. They must be paid the minimum salary depending on their sector (excluding models, musicians or circus performers), and they are expected to be assigned work that follows UK rules and regulations.

While not comprehensive, eligible occupations are tied into dance, theatre, opera, film, television, or fashion modelling.

Each area has its own regulations and exemptions for endorsement via the Codes of Practice. If the occupation is not listed or indicated on this document, applicants are allowed to select and make an application by selecting a role from the Appendix Skilled Occupations, instead.

Due to the collaborative nature of the work, an applicant may be a part of or lead an entourage and they are allowed to be assigned Certificates of Sponsorship as a group. Typically, entourages include but are not limited to:

  1. Production crew with technical or specialist skills and previous working relationship with creative worker
  2. Non-technical, non-creative personal assistant who supports a director or producer of international status in film and television and has had a significant prior working relationship with that director or producer.

Creative Workers can usually stay in the UK for up to 12 months, with the possibility of extending up to 24 months if they remain with the same sponsor.
