The UK Expansion Worker visa, part of the Global Business Mobility (GBM) route, allows senior managers or specialist employees of overseas businesses to establish a UK branch or subsidiary. This route is designed for businesses not yet trading in the UK and offers a temporary stay of up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension.
You may qualify for a UK Expansion Worker visa if you:
Your employer must hold a valid sponsor licence and provide you with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for the role.
The initial visa allows you to stay in the UK for up to 12 months. You can apply to extend your stay by an additional 12 months, making the maximum duration under this route 2 years.
Note: You can only stay in the UK for a maximum of 5 years in any 6-year period if you’ve spent time on any of the following visas:
The stay duration under this route is 2 years, where applicants may extend your visa in 12-month increments. Once this duration ends, you may switch to another eligible route to continue living and working in the UK.
