Shivani is a Solicitor at Ashton Ross Law. Within two months of joining the firm as a paralegal, she was offered a training contract. Shivani works in the litigation department, however she also works alongside the immigration team.

In the litigation team, Shivani works across various areas including complex property litigation matters, such as forfeiture of commercial leases, unlawful eviction and nuisance claims. She has also worked on injunction applications, contractual disputes, applications to set aside court judgements, housing disrepair cases and shareholder disputes. Within the immigration team, she has worked on various Judicial Review matters in the Upper Tribunal, appeals in the First Tier Tribunal, and Global Talent visas.

Prior to joining Ashton Ross Law, Shivani was engaged as a qualified debt and benefits adviser at the Citizens Advice Bureau. She acquired comprehensive experience of the UK welfare benefits system, which involved advising numerous clients in relation to their options as to the most suitable public funds available. In addition, Shivani was also responsible for advising and representing clients on a range of matters such as defending eviction proceedings and negotiating with third parties Claimants/Creditors in order to write-off large debts. She has advised on a range of debt matters including suitable insolvency options and defending county court proceedings such as setting aside judgments.  She has a successful track record of disputing liability of debts, together with appealing DWP decisions.

Shivani completed her undergraduate law degree at The London School of Economics and Political Science. Thereafter, she finished her LPC training, attaining a distinction. She has a strong ability to manage matters spanning across various fields of law and providing clear and succinct advice on complex areas of law. Due to her background in the social sector, she is also able to support vulnerable clients.

Throughout her legal career, Shivani has acted in numerous complex and high-profile matters. Notable career highlights include:

• Successfully settling a matter related to the sale of a property worth in the sum of £875,000.00
• Assisting on a matter before HMRC involving assets exceeding £300,000 in value
• Negotiating and settling various property litigation matters, including reaching settlements up to £18,000.00 and successfully rehousing a client whose property was considered unfit for human habitation
• Working on a complex commercial lease dispute resulting in a substantial insurance payout
• Setting aside numerous court judgements, one being in the sum of £27,000.00
• Working on various complex judicial review matters, including successfully overturning refusals related to alleged deception and overstaying in the UK
• Overturning the refusal of an asylum claim involving organised crime and targeted assassinations
• Successfully defending clients against national councils and housing associations
• Successfully attaining various highly sought after Global Talent endorsement’s for internationally acclaimed individuals in the digital technology and academic fields
