In order to qualify for a Tier 1 Investor Visa, you will need to demonstrate:
- That you have access to £2 million (or equivalent) in funds or investments which are transferable to the UK. The source of the funds must be legitimate and traceable to you.
- The funds must be held in a regulated financial institution in the UK or any other country which allows for currency transfer to the UK.
- The relevant account that the funds are held must either be in your name or that of your partners.
If you are granted a visa in this category, you must be able to evidence the actual investment of £2 million in order to qualify for an extension.
Not all investments will be considered valid (property investment/management/development – for example). The initial visa will be granted for a period of 3 years and 4 months and can be extended for a further period of 2 years. After the initial extension, you may qualify for indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
If you require any further information in relation to this category or you would like to make an application for this visa, please do not hesitate to contact one of our lawyers. The first consultation is free of charge.
