- Have served for a minimum of 4 years
Eligibility for Family Members
Your partner or child could also apply if you’re currently in the armed forces and have served for a minimum of 5 years or have left in the past 2 years. You must prove you and your partner intend to live together and have a combined income of at least £18,600 per year.
You’ll need to earn an additional:

- £2,400 for each child thereafter
It usually costs £2,404 for each person applying, but this can be waived by the Home Office, if certain conditions are met.
You can apply if you have:
- left the Brigade of Gurkhas before 1 July 1997
- served for at least 4 years
Your partner (only one) and any children under 18 can also apply. The widow of a former Gurkha could apply if her husband met the criteria.
